HISTORY
The making of the Scholar’s Brush dates back
to the Tang Dynasty.
There was a student who wanted to go to the Capital City
for examination. However, he was so poor that he could not
even afford a calligraphy brush. Coincidentally, he saw
his wife carrying their first month old baby in her arm
and the idea of using their baby’s hair to make a
calligraphy brush came to him. Without delay, he had the
brush made and set off his journey to the Capital City for
examination. During the examination, the student could feel
an enormous power pushing him to success. Not long after,
his result was recognized and was awarded the “Scholar”
title. Since then, this legend spread to every household
and the Scholar’s Brush became an auspicious souvenir
for the baby. The Brush is not only believed to bring good
health and wisdom to the child, but also show the love and
care of the parent to present such sentimental gift to the
child.
